Challenges and Solutions

Challenge: Removing the ceiling in the room and above the shower to increase height and openness.

Solution: Carefully demolished and reconstructed the area to maximize vertical space without compromising structural integrity.

Challenge: Stripping away three layers of existing tile on the floor, which could be labor-intensive and time-sensitive.

Solution: Efficiently removed layers and installed new tile-like LVP flooring for a fresh, durable base while adhering to a tight deadline before the client’s next child was due.

Challenge: Creating a relaxing, whimsical atmosphere in a functional guest space.

Solution: Selected materials like custom wallpaper, marble tile, and Calcatta Quartz to blend playfulness with practicality.

Design Insights

The design focused on transforming a dated guest bathroom into a serene, inviting retreat suitable for both children and visitors. By emphasizing whimsical elements such as custom wallpaper and a coordinating shower curtain, we infused the space with a relaxing mood while prioritizing functionality through higher vanities and durable materials. The removal of the ceiling and floor layers allowed natural light and openness to take center stage, creating a spa-like ambiance in a compact area.
